Indian workers allege US employer and its recruitment firm violated US labor laws, immigration laws with forced labor, trafficking, fraud and civil rights violations Balaji Reddy Mar. 11, 2008  It is illegal to fraudulently promise someone green card and bring them to US. It is also illegal to take money from aliens in other countries and promise green card. US labor laws are clear about rights of the workers. US Congressman George Miller demanded that the US Secretary of Labor investigate the case. This can be land mark case where an US employer has abused US immigration laws, labor laws, international human rights laws and more. If true, it requires severe criminal and civil penalty.
Some international think tanks believe, it is not an isolated case. The same mind set that employ illegal aliens di this criminal act, if the allegations are true. US employers must learn to make money from a business model that does not need cheating the alien workers whether legal or illegal. Indian workers filed a lawsuit against Signal International; a marine construction company, which has denied the charges, and its American and Indians recruiters, was filed in a US federal court in New Orleans, Louisiana. The law suit asks for "tens of millions of dollars" in damages for allegedly bringing them to the US on a false promise of permanent residency and forcing them to work under inhuman conditions.
